With the temples closed by late evening, a great way to spend the night is to go into Siem Reap town and visit the two night markets, Angkor Night Market and Noon Night Market, conveniently located a few streets away from the Old Market (open in the day) and the lively Pub Street. Both night markets are great places for souvenir shopping, and be prepared to do some bargaining.

The Angkor Night Market has a unique setup compared with other night markets I’ve seen. Laid out in a huge compound with thatch-roofed stalls, this market offers local merchandise including those stocked outside of Siem Reap that can be rarely found elsewhere. Within the Angkor Night Market is the Island Bar, a place to chill and enjoy some food and drinks under a bamboo tower. For an insight to the history of Cambodia and Pol Pot, tourists can also drop by the 3D cinema, just next to the Island Bar.

Never been there, heard not cheap to spend a travel there also coz using USD $…hehe! But I am sure its a nice place for photography
Ooh..I see they have a fish spa. I didn’t dare to try it out while on holiday in Phuket. I was told it feels ticklish.
uLi: yes it may not be as cheap as certain south east asian countries coz of the USD, but in general, things are not too costly e.g beer! but sometimes tourists do get overcharged by certain operators. however cambodia is a poor country and tourism is one of their ways to boost their economy – there’s lots to see and experience there if you ever change ur mind
Mei Teng: actually i’ve never tried it myself. it appears to be pretty popular amongst westerners too maybe coz it’s a new concept to them. it’s getting quite common in shopping malls here in kl/pj too.
Excellent night shots!
Almost like taken by a HDR!
US$2.50 for 20mins? Wasn’t that a bit pricey for local people to enjoy?
Re: Land of Hope & Glory
Have you been to the Proms as well?
Re: Walking on Broken Glass
That’s a stream, but it’s not frozen. To its right (not shown in photo), it’s the Thames.
London Caller: that’s the charge advertised and targetted for tourists… but not sure if the locals are charged less perhaps? Re: Lang of Hope & Glory – never been to the Proms. from the video, it looks like a pretty lively performance. r the tickets pricey?
nice photographs! siem reap is on my list to explore. can’t wait to go there
thanks for dropping by weekend haven!
