Gong Xi Gong Xi!

Gong Xi Fa Cai! The past week has been a series of  gatherings and reunions with family and friends. Especially with schools on holiday to celebrate Chinese New Year, this joyous festive period is particularly an enjoyable time for children – with angpows, new year clothing, fireworks, oranges, cookies and plenty of goodies. Here are some of the cheerful faces captured, from open house visiting this year.

    Rafael: yup … it’s all fun fun and fun for them… well for us too haha

    chyng: Gong Xi Fa Cai is what we say as a greeting during Chinese New Year. Gong Xi Fa Cai literally means “Wishing you prosperity!”; kids often clasp their hands together and say “Gong Xi Gong Xi” to wish all well during this time. & Cool… have added you to my bloglist too!

    Nomadic Pinoy: yea… they’re not camera conscious like adults usu are.. and children are my favourite subject to snap away!

    I still can collect angpow!
    London held its annual Chinese New Year’s Parade last week.
    I got an angpow from a gweilo Choy Sun there. He gave me an angpow. And inside got 20p!! Ha ha ha…

    londoncaller: London really celebrates Chinese New Year too now eh… a gweilo Choy Sun.. haha – that must have looked kinda amusing… 20p not bad… this year the only angpow i got from a Choy Sun was a lottery ticket – didn’t strike tho :(
