mylo: guess it depends on the season and water level. perhaps not child friendly usually. but on the day i visited, it looked pretty safe... barely any currents and low water level.

It is not advisable to 'carry' along a child (below 10 years old). The stream or river crossings can be dangerous (water up to the child neck level). Especially during rainy seasons. Anyway, I guess it's OK during dry season :)

I need to invest in a water proof bag...ASAP.

Cheers!

Oh boy... the ant trail looks eerie >.<

Water-proof camera would be ideal in such places.

cecil: oh dear...was both camera and lens ruined? yea actually i wouldn't take my camera with me if the trail was going to be really steep. the dry season helped with the low level water and 'not as strong' water currents.

rainfield: it was good fun! u'd like it esp coz u're a nature lover :)

horsoon: they're huge!

Agreed with Mei Teng that you have to be extra careful when crossing river. My friend dropped his D90 together with Tamron 18-275 into river while jungle trekking... :( Otherwise a trip into the jungle or mountain sure rewarding with lots of photographing opp, though I'm not fancy that much.

chyng: i was using 18-200mm multipurpose lens. the insects r not actually macro shots ..e.g. the moth is like nearly as big as my foot; so it was more of a zoom in shot.

londoncaller: i find labelled crossings help to give us an idea how far we are along the trek. i didn't encounter any dr. fish experience and at the rivers, i was too busy trying to get across the river without getting my camera bag wet :)

No bad, these days Malaysian resorts are well signposted!
Even got crossing numbers!? So thoughtful. Ha ha...

Any Dr Fish "kissing" your feet in the water?
That's 100 times better than those Dr Fish Spas in town! Ha!

Re: Arc de Triomphe / 巴黎凯旋门 / Gerbang Kemenangan / エトワール凱旋門

Likewise, I find it extremely hard to talk to local people.
Not sure if because they really do not know English.
Or they do want to speak English.
Ha ha... That's French for you then!

micki: at first i thought i wudn’t want to get wet… but to dip ur legs or entireself in the cool water in the hot sun was pretty refreshing!

Mei Teng: yup u’re right… otherwise it’d be rather risky

kuanhoong: d80.. same familyy..

mylo: oh dear read ur post.. u dropped ur camera in the first round..luckily it’s okay after that… it looks quite safe to cross carrying a camera, but all we need is just an accidental slip and it did happen to 2 of us in the entire group at different crossings.
kelah fish… i was more busy trying to get across with my camera in the backpack so didn’t take notice but i heard few from the group saying they saw fish at the river. i only saw small fishes around the waterfall.

Lepok Rainforest waterfall - saw your photos... it looks like a smaller waterfall right?

the girl must have been carried by her parents…. crossing the river hehe…

I went there a few months back. I wrapped my camera bag with many layers of plastic bag. I was crossing the rivers with my two hands holding the plastic bag high up - I look like a Mexican crossing the US border...LOL!

Did you see any Kelah fish at the fourth and fifth crossings? There is a similar vertical fall in Lepok Rainforest Waterfall in Hulu Selangor. Roughly 2.5 km jungle trekking.

LOVE the 'jumpers' series the little girl shot!!! WOW! how did the little girl crossed 6 rivers???

Cheers!

Hmm i used to think it was huge as well for raw, but once i started actually i don't think i ever will go back to JPG. gives me better control and especially if photos are dark, you can better control exposure and not waste a good shot. Yeah i try not to post process too much but exposure, saturation and levels are something need to do lah - can't always get a perfect shot!

waii: wasn't shooting in raw.. coz of the huge file size. i try not to do too much processing but i have tried shooting in raw at moments like a rare sunset during travel. hmmm... might experiment more with raw for special occasions in future.

Photovigor: great to know that u enjoy it!

bengbeng: thanks. the 3rd photo from the bottom - not sure if u think likewise but i find the waterfall in the background seems to set a spiritual effect around the subject.

Rafael: checked out your friend's photos... the waterfall is marvellous.. the water overflowing over multiple high rocks is awesome. & it's the nearest waterfall to you?! is it a tough trail to hike up there? unfortunately i can't read the name of the waterfall - how do u pronounce it in english - i can only read the character 'three' :(

Nice natural place! The most near waterfall for me is in China,
a place calling 橫琴, 三疊泉, I went there some years before...
but when I didn't have a good photography skill and was hard to take pictures
because I was following a hiking path...
May be you can see there in my friend blog:

It dropped when I was in Vietnam. I realise that the quality of the picture that I took isn't that sharp anymore especially on lens. Also i found some black spots on my camera mirror. So time to service!

uli, henry: thanks guys… the moth was really the largest i’ve ever seen & i thought the spider web looked pretty cool

ihsan: yeaa… it’s quite well shaded too. we had to leave by 2pm coz we were starving.. if only we brought some snacks and all, we could have hung out later. but we do have to get out by 5pm.

kay nny: hey but why ur camera needs repair – what happened to it?

Mei Teng: yea although when we went, the water level wasn't too high, there were 1 or 2 who lost balance while crossing the river with underlying slippery rocks - luckily they weren't holding cameras...
