If you ever visit Chinatown in Bangkok, you will find an abundance of Chinese delicacies especially bird’s nest and shark’s fin soup (those who are strongly against shark’s fin, please skip this post!). The price of shark’s fin on display ranged from 300 baht to as high as 8000 baht. We took a leisurely stroll in Chinatown on one of the nights in Bangkok and here’s what we came across.

Oh… I miss C-Hum and ABC!
Have you tried C-Hum from Singapore?
They’re extra big and juicy! Ha ha…
Best with laksa. Yum yum…
londoncaller: it took me a while to figure out what u meant by C-Hum haha…. oooooh ’see-humm’.. i’m not a fan of cockles… but i love ABC!!! yummm ice kacang my favourite in SS2 PJ.
Nice foods in Chinatown Bangkok! But I will prefer Thai foods if I visit Bangkok, haha!
Rafael: yea that’s true – thai food is excellent and u can get loads of this chinese food in hk/macau. i didn’t eat here.. just took a look around.
C-hum… yummy yummy.
I love it served with chili, especially if can get kerang bakar.
wow durian!!!!! i want… almost 8yrs havent had it already ><
Im so excited! Ü
The sharkfin is cheap there :p
I went to bkk for 3 times.
But I never been to BKK china town. Where is it?
cheryl: u also spell it as C-hum…. this is a new spelling to me
fufu: 8 years… wow… time to be back
chyng: have a fabulous south east asia trip!!
uLi: that’s what i heard…. compared to in malaysia
keeyit: it’s west of the city centre… about midway heading towards the grand palace. Sampeng Lane and Sampeng Market – not sure if u’ve heard of them.. it’s where Chinatown is.
Except for the shark’s fin soup, I’d probably try most of the food – I’m fond of Chinese but if I was in Bangkok, I’d be feasting mostly on Thai food.
How did they get so many shark’s fins that can be sold like hawker stall food in Thailand? I hope the shark’s fin industry won’t flourish to lead to more sacrifice of sharks.
I love Bangkok’s street food. Even the Chinese food there is super yummy.
Hey lechua, it’s 8:09 p.m. and I’m HUNGRY!!! 2 bowls of shark fin soup, 3 durians, 2 bowl of ice kacang, 50 cockles 3 bowl of bird’s nest soup = MY PERFECT DINNER! BURP!
Beautiful and delicious night shots! I want to see MORE!!!!
Cheers!
Nomadic Pinoy: true true… thai food is aweesome… with its spices!
Shelyn: not sure… i was quite surprised nearly every chinese restaurant/shop seemed to be serving sharksfin.
Che-Cheh: do u mean the chinese food in chinatown?
mylo: that’s alot of souuuppp to drink…. and ice to have!! and with durians… that would be quite a combination!
I know this place! Tons of good food there, I went crazy the last time I went there.
Stanley: really.. heh.. u must have tried out all their delicacies..
Hi Lee Eng,
We have had plans to go to this chinatown for one of the days in our trip to BKK but we didnt know where it was initially. We somehow got “tersesat” when trying out bangkok river transportation system. For fear that the boat will take us further away from places we familiar, we said to ourselves that we will stop where the boat stops next. Coincidentally, where the boat stop next, we hop out and ask one of the locals, there infront of us. Chinatown!
hey jimmy, when was this? u guys just got back from krabi rite – was the bkk trip this round or a while back? actually i had a thai friend bring me to chinatown on one of the nights… that’s how i got there. so did u feed urselves loads in chinatown having landed urself there?
mann i love bird’s nest soup too even IF its made from spit!!! <333
i eat it like once every monthish and used to bought from website hongkong-bird-nest.50webs.com/index_e.htm sometimes, my mom went back to hong kong and bought a full suitcase of it cause its cheaper there XD
